WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE review by FAT Mike
A group of unsuspecting office workers find themselves stranded on a deserted island when a corporate retreat led by unhinged former Marine, Storm Rothchild played by Jean-Claude Van Damme goes horribly wrong.
Sex, drugs and JCVD! Believe it or not, it’s not that bad. The story is a lord of the fly’s type of film but without kids. I enjoyed the cast; Adam Brody plays the underdog boy scout; Rob Huebel as most of the time plays the jerky weasel guy. The one person I enjoyed most is Kristen Schaal, she’s hilarious and her one liners are priceless. Jean-Claude Van Damme plays himself but in a way it feels like he’s making fun of himself which is fun and he also made me laugh which was surprising. This movie is a generic comedy. Welcome to the Jungle doesn’t bring anything new to the table and I found that this film has small laughs; not enough big ones which makes this movie forgettable. We’ve seen many movies like this before and but oddly enough I enjoyed it.
Welcome to the Jungle is a run of the mill comedy that is quick and to the point. The movie doesn’t have enough big laughs but it was nice to see Jean-Claude Van Damme do something a bit different and made me laugh a little. With the always funny Kristen Schaal with her hilarious and priceless lines makes Welcome to the Jungle worth a watch. Remember, life will never suck as long as there is a GOOD movie to watch.
