R.I.P.D. review by FAT Mike

Based off of the Dark Horse Comics of the same name, a recently killed cop joins a team of undead police officers working for the Rest in Peace Department. He tries to find the man who murdered him and save the world from dead-os.

I never read the R.I.P.D. comics (at this time) so I went into the movie not knowing anything about R.I.P.D.. I really enjoyed R.I.P.D.; it reminded me of the first Men In Black movie. Jeff Bridges had me laughing hard and I loved his character. I felt the relationship between Jeff Bridges and Ryan Reynolds was a good classic odd couple pairing. Kevin Bacon is as always an awesome bad guy and I liked seeing Mary-Louise Parker as the ass boss and how her and Jeff Bridges but heads. I found the movie well written, the decline in the film is short so it just keeps going. The one thing I’d like to have seen was some practical effects. The whole film is C.G. and it kind of bugged me, making the film feel cartoony at times.

R.I.P.D. has a awesome cast, well written, funny and has a M.I.B. feel. It may have a lack of practical effects but this doesn’t wreck the whole film. I really enjoyed R.I.P.D. and I’d like to see a sequel. Cheers and remember life will never suck as long as there is a GOOD movie to watch.
