Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters review by FAT Mike
Hansel and Gretel were left alone in the woods by their father and captured by a dark witch in a candy house as children. Many years later Hansel & Gretel are bounty hunters who track and kill witches all over the world. When eleven children go missing in a small village, the Major summons Hansel and Gretel to rescue them before the Blood Moon approaches.
I didn’t have high hopes for Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters but to my surprise it was okay, the writing feels lazy and rushed but it has some awesome one liners and is full of cheap laughs. The action scenes are surprisingly good and I dig the practical effects and the set peace. I never felt sucked in to the story and I felt like the movie was going to pick up but never did. The acting is okay, Jeremy Renner’s Hansel is too cool for school and Gemma Arterton’s Gretel is an odd mix of smart bad ass and damsel in distress which works but I never felt like a cared about them. The only character I felt like I card about was Edward the troll who as soon as he gets on screen steals the movie.
Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters is a good cheesy turn your brain off movie and kind of reminded me of YOUR HIGHNESS but not even as funny.
An adult version of children book classic with some awesome action, one liners, cheap laughs and Edward the lovable troll makes Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters an okay story and worth a watch. Cheers and remember life will never suck as long as there is a GOOD movie to watch.
