THOR: THE DARK WORLD review by FAT Mike
When Jane Foster is possessed by a great power, Thor must protect her from a new threat of old times: the Dark Elves.
This film is more visually stunning then the first Thor movie and everything looks amazing. All the Asgardian’s have a bit of a new look which makes this film crisp.
Thor: The Dark World is darker then the first film but oddly has more jokes even though they are cheesy. The whole cast from the first movie is back including Chris Hemsworth as Thor. Tom Hiddleston as Loki and Anthony Hopkins as Odin are together for only a brief time on screen, but their chemistry is amazing. Kat Dennings and Stellan Skarsgard bring humour to the movie and this time Alice Krige as Eir has a bigger, more bad ass role. It was nice to see another strong female role instead of a damsel in distress. As always I did enjoy the Stan Lee cameo but I also loved the Chris Evans cameo which made me laugh really hard.
During the space ship scenes I couldn’t help but think of Star Wars with the way it was shot. There are more action scenes then the first film which makes Thor: The Dark World a fun ride. I found the story good but not as griping as the first film. It’s a good bridge between Thor; The Avengers and a potential Thor 3; The Avengers Age of Ultron. One thing I couldn’t stand was the why they tried to make this action adventure mixed with romance. This took away from the movie and made it forgettable.
With a darker story, an amazing cast, some fun jokes and lots of action, Thor: The Dark World is worth a watch but surprisingly forgettable. Cheers and remember life will never suck as long as there is a GOOD movie to watch
