KNIGHTS OF BADASSDOM review by FAT Mike
Three best friends and dedicated LARPers unwittingly conjure up some serious evil in the form of a blood-lusting Succubus, from the pits of hell by mistake and they must deal with the consequences. For 3 years I’ve been waiting to see Knights of Badassdom and it was worth every second I waited! I know it’s early in the year but I found another must see of 2014!The story is fun and well rounded with non-stop laughs. Knights of Badassdom is a fresh of breath of fresh air after some crappy sword and sorcery films like Your Highness and lets not forget that god awful Conan The Barbarian remake. You connect with the characters right away and it’s hard not to with an amazing cast made up of: Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones), Summer Glau (Firefly), Steve Zahn (Saving Silverman), Ryan Kwanten (True Blood), Jimmi Simpson (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia), Danny Pudi (Community) and a cameo by Brian Posen. The digital effects in Knights of Badassdom are some of the best I’ve seen for a B movie in a long time, but the one thing I enjoyed most was the practical effects and the Succubus monster. Yes, the both the practical and digital effects are cheesy but it fits right into this fun story. Joe Lynch took this story and made this an instant hit and cult classic, which quickly became one of my favourite films!
Knights of Badassdom is a must see! The film has an amazing cast, an awesome story and a breath of fresh air after the last couple of crappy sword and sorcery movies. Knights of Badassdom may be one of my top 10 favourite independent movies and makes me want to try LARPing. Cheers and Remember, life will never suck as long as there is a GOOD movie to watch.
