Pacific Rim review by FAT Mike

As a war between humankind and monstrous sea creatures wages on, a former pilot and a trainee are paired up to drive a seemingly obsolete special weapon in a desperate effort to save the world from the apocalypse.

Guillermo del Toro did it again! We’ve seen giant monster movies before but this one feels fresh, with stars like Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day, Clifton Collins Jr. and hellboy himself Ron Perlman. I was disappointed that I felt no connection to any of the characters and they are forgettable but the Kaiju and Jaegers look amazing and the battles are amazing and stunning. The story we have heard before but it just feels different. PACIFIC RIM is shot beautifully which is no shock because it’s a Guillermo del Toro film and I wouldn’t expect any less.

Besides the lack of connection to the characters, the story is good, and the film is stunning. The Kaiju and Jaegers are amazing and the fight scenes make the movie. Cheers and remember life will never suck as long as there is a GOOD movie to watch.
